Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh Laying of Foundation Stone of Sewage Treatment Plant at Village Kishangarh, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 05th February, 2021: The foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of 2 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant using MBR Technology, was held by the  Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, today the presence of Principal Secretary(Home)-cum- Secretary(Engg.), DC UT, Chief Architect and Chief Engineer-cum-Special Secretary(Engg.).

In order to treat the Sewage generated by the residents of village Kishangarh and to use the treated water for the irrigation purpose of the lake area, Golf Course, nearby IT Park area and to meet the water required for topping up the lake in the future, the project was undertaken with the cost of Rs.19.9 crore. The installation of STP will also comply with the directions of the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal. The parameters for the S.T. Plant were fixed keeping in view the requirement for topping up of the lake, if required, duly vetted by the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC).

The system is proposed to be run through a full automatic SCADA system where the quantity and quality of the water at the inlet and outlet will be continuously monitored, which will further be checked by the Engineering Department and CPCC on a real-time basis.

The scope of the project consists of a construction period of 8 months and comprehensive operation and maintenance of the Plant for 10 years by the agency.
