Petrol, diesel price hits yet another fresh peak

On Thursday, rates were hiked by the most in recent times, even as fuel retailers said the government can cut taxes to ease consumer burden. Petrol and diesel price was hiked yesterday after a gap of a week, according to price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.

Petrol and diesel prices on Friday rose to new highs across different cities.

In Delhi, petrol prices rose by 30 paise a litre to hit a fresh high of Rs 86.95. In Mumbai, prices climbed 29 paise to touch Rs 93.49 a litre. Today's price in Chennai is Rs 89.39, a rise of 26 paise a litre. For Kolkata, it is at Rs 88.30, a climb of 29 paise.

Yesterday, petrol and diesel price were hiked by 35 paise per litre, the biggest spike in some time. This hike came after the gap of a week.

Diesel, too, is retailing across cities at fresh highs. In Delhi, Rs 77.13 is the price of a litre, in Mumbai Rs 83.99, in Chennai Rs 82.33 and in Kolkata, Rs 80.71.
