Treyarch is temporarily disabling the Easter egg quest in the new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War zombies map, to give all players a chance to discover the content for themselves. Though the update is already available to download, this quest won't show up until Friday, February 5.

In a tweet, Treyarch said this is "to make sure everyone can start the hunt on equal footing." All players will be able to start at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET.

Firebase Z introduces new characters to Black Ops Cold War Zombies, along with new mechanics and a Wonder Weapon. Letting everyone crack into the Easter eggs at once makes sense, given that the ongoing storyline in Zombies is a major draw for the horde-like mode.

The update is also adding the Express multiplayer map, new modes and playlists, and four additional Prop Hunt maps. It's roughly 9 GB. You can check out the full patch notes for more details.

In the US, Black Ops Cold War was the best-selling game of 2020. It has also rolled some of its new features into the free-to-play battle royale Warzone, which began as a piece of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Activision has said it expects Warzone to continue to develop alongside annual Call of Duty releases. Meanwhile, Activision is being sued for copyright infringement over one of its Modern Warfare characters.
