A lot has been said about Rihanna's tweet and the popstar herself after she took to social media to show solidarity with the Farmer's Protests in North India, questioning why more people across the globe aren't speaking about it, especially after the government shut down the internet in regions bordering Delhi where the farmers have gathered in large numbers. Several Indian celebrities finally came forward, after months of silence, to lambast Rihanna while tweeting a coupe of common hashtags like 'India Stands Together' and 'India Against Propaganda'. Now, in an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife, Mithila Palkar of Little Things and Tribhanga fame presented her perspective of the scenario. Opening up on why everybody can say or comment whatever they want, whenever they want, Mithila Palkar said. “I feel like everybody speaks about things as and when they wish to. I mean, you want somebody to speak, then you don't want them to speak. If they say something against your opinion, then you don't want to support them. So, I feel like, whoever has whatever opinions, whoever wants to say what they wish, they should. At the end of the day, we wish to come together as a nation and solve our problems if we see it as one, and together (emphasising on the word), not as individuals — It shouldn't be like I'll solve my problem, you solve yours, not like that. I'm not going to think about it so menially. Whoever you are, whatever your opinion is, you should have the freedom of speaking it — that's what democracy is, that's what we stand for. You speak your mind out, you talk about that you feel, you share your opinion about it, whatever that opinion may be is completely up to you, that's exactly what a democracy is — you should have the freedom of speech.” Also Read - Birthday girl Mithila Palkar reveals what she wants as gifts from Dulquer Salmaan, Prajakta Koli and Kajol (Exclusive)
Commenting on whether it's valid for others to question Rihanna's right to tweet about matters plaguing India, Mithila added, “I feel like because of social media, we like to make news out of everything. So, when there are things to be speak about, I have a very strong platform from where I can comment on them, where I actually do speak about them and I stand by certain things. So, when I'm ready to speak about them, I do speak about them.” Also Read - Mithila Palkar: I aspire to be a better actor than I was yesterday
