APEDA Opens Regional Office at Chennai

In order to harness the export potential from the State, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) opened its Regional Office at Chennai in the Premises of Tamil Nadu State Agricultural Marketing Board, CIPET Road, Thiru-Vi-Ka Industrial Estate, Guindy, Chennai – 600032 on 4 February 2021.

The new Regional Office was jointly inaugurated by Shri Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Principal Secretary to Govt., Govt. of Tamil Nadu and Dr. M. Angamuthu, Chairman, APEDA.

The programme was attended by Sh. K.V. Muralidharan, Director, Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business, Sh. S.V. Anburaj, Authority Member, Dr. Sudhanshu, Secretary, APEDA and Sh. R. Ravindra, DGM & Regional Head, APEDA.

In order to promote exports from the State, APEDA has provided financial assistance to the Dept. of Agri. And Marketing, Govt. of Tamil Nadu for setting up of common infrastructure facility (Cold Storage, Sorting and Grading Facility) at Dindigul, Villupuram and Coimbatore districts for facilitating the exports of fresh vegetable from the state. APEDA has setup a Perishable Cargo Center at Chennai Airport and a Walk-in type cold storage at Trichy Airport. APEDA has also provided financial assistance for modernization/ up- gradation of the Veterinary College Research Institute Laboratory at Chennai and Namakkal for testing of animal and poultry products.  APEDA also provided financial assistance for setting up of Tanflora Infrastructure Park Ltd., at Hosur for floriculture exports.
