Nokia: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

ESPOO, Finland (AP) _ Nokia Corp. (NOK) on Thursday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $3.1 billion, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Espoo, Finland-based company said it had a loss of 55 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 17 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 12 cents per share.

The technology company posted revenue of $7.83 billion in the period.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $2.78 billion, or 49 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $24.98 billion.

The company's shares closed at $4.70. A year ago, they were trading at $3.88.
