New Delhi: Former Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Thursday slammed the government at the Centre over the treatment meted out to the farmers protesting against the farm laws at various borders of Delhi. She also said that she along with other opposition leaders were stopped by the police stopped from crossing barricades to meet the farmers protesting at Ghazipur border.
The Shiromani Akali Dal leader said, “Saw first hand the conditions created at Ghazipur border. Shocked to see the treatment being meted out to the annadaata. Farmers are barricaded behind fortress like concrete barriers and barbed wire fencing. Even ambulances and fire brigades cannot enter the protest site.”
“We are here so that we can discuss this issue (farmers’ protest) in Parliament, Speaker is not letting us raise the issue. Now all the parties will give details of what is happening here,” she said.
A total of 15 Members of Parliament from 10 opposition parties reached Gazipur border this morning to meet farmers protesting against new farm laws.
