GUWAHATI: Huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered during multiple operations in Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar districts late on Tuesday.
While the Government Railway Police Force (GRPF) recovered 1,000 rounds of ammunition from the North East Express in Bongaigaon district, the Kokrajhar police unearthed a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including AK 56 rifles and Chinese hand grenades. Biswajit Rava, sub-Inspector of the New Bongaigaon GRPF, said, “Of the recovered ammunition, 500 are 8 mm rounds while the rest are 3.2 mm rounds. One unclaimed bag was found in the train. GRPF personnel searched it and recovered the ammunition, along with some documents.”
He added that according to the documents, the bullets were being transported from Dimapur in Nagaland to Buxar in Bihar.
