Gurugram: Two of a gang held for robbing auto drivers

GURUGRAM: The crime branch of Gurugram police arrested two members of a gang on Tuesday who used to allegedly steal vehicles from the city’s auto drivers.
The two men have been identified as Satyaprakash and Dharmendra, both from a village of Madhya Pradesh.
The police said the two used to hire auto rickshaws from different parts of the city and after travelling for a while, they used to push the driver out after snatching his cash before fleeing with the vehicle.
A police officer said the gang has been active for the past few months in Gurugram.
The accused were arrested from Sector 14 after police received a complaint of snatching an autorickshaw from Sushant Lok.
Dilip Kumar, a resident of Surat Nagar Phase 2 told police that around 11pm on January 18, two men hired his auto rickshaw from M G Road for Sector 14, however, midway they asked him to drop them till Sector 42. “Around 11.55pm when we reached the destination, they argued with me over the fare and started abusing me. Just then, one of them pulled out a gun and dragged me out of the autorickshaw and fled with it and my day’s earnings,” as he stated in his complaint.
Based on the complaint, the two men have been booked under IPC Section 379 A (snatching) at Sushant Lok police station. Police claim to have solved multiple cases of auto snatching with their arrest.
