Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt has hinted to making several changes for Sunday's Nedbank Cup clash against Richards Bay, that could see players such as Itumeleng Khune be handed a start.
Hunt's side will be looking to get back to winning ways against the GladAfrica Championship outfit after suffering a 2-0 loss to Orlando Pirates in a Soweto derby league clash.
Chiefs find themselves sitting in 8th position on 18 points in the league standings, already a massive 15 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns after 15 matches played.
The 56-year-old while hinting at rotating his squad confirmed that he would be sending out a strong side as Amakhosi's league position forced them into identifying the Nedbank Cup as a chance for silverware.
"If you look all around the world you see teams playing weakened teams in Cup competitions but it's something we can't afford because of the situation we find ourselves in," Hunt said.
"We'll obviously try our best in every game and we'll play the best eleven that we think is suitable for the game and take it from there because there's no freebies that's for sure.
A player that may be handed a rare start is club captain Itumeleng Khune who has been on the fringes of the squad since a few high-profile errors.
Despite his lack of game time Hunt maintains that Khune has an influential role to play in the squad.
"It's very important knowing that we've got someone of that calibre pushing to get into the team," Hunt added. "Like any other player he's got to work hard.
"There's no entitlement to a position at any club in the world.
"So he's working hard and is doing well so hopefully when his chance comes to start a game hopefully he grabs it."
Other players who may also receive a rare start are Siphelele Ntshangase, Willard Katsande, Bernard Parker and Yagan Sasman.
Sunday's Round of 32 clash takes place at he FNB Stadium.
Kick-off is at 17:00.
