White Coat Ceremony held at SGPC run Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences

Amritsar : Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences. organized a white coat ceremony for the 2020 Batch of MBBS Students.
A total of 150 new entrants were given white coats to wear after completion of 3 week-long" Foundation Course" which was introduced by the National Medical Commission (NMC) as part of the new MBBS competency based curriculum, informed Dean Dr. A P Singh here on Thursday.
Uppal also passed on the candle light to a group of students, who passed it on to the remaining ones, signifying collaborative learning in their future professional career.
White Coat ceremony has been in vogue to induct the students into the medical profession but has received renewed interest following the emphasis laid on professionalism and ethics in the new competency-based curriculum launched by NMC.
While addressing the gathering Dr. A P Singh said that the new entrants into the medical profession need to follow professional ethics while serving humanity. He also encouraged the students to learn collaboratively and help each other as much as possible.
Others who were present on the occasion included Dr Baljit Singh Khurana (Registrar), Dr Pankaj Gupta (Controller of Examinations), Dr Anupama Mahajan (Vice Principal & Dean (PG), Dr Sahiba Kukreja, Dean (UG), Dr Tejinder Singh, Dr. Deepinder Kaur, Dr. Anterpreet Arora and other dignitaries were also present.

He informed that Dr Manjit Singh Uppal, Director Principal, Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research administered the traditional Hippocratic Oath pledging allegiance to the medical profession, their companions , seniors, and their duty towards their patients .
