Dingo attacks boy on Fraser Island in Queensland
A dingo has bitten a boy on Fraser Island, leaving “significant bite wounds”, the Queensland Environment Department says.
Paramedics and rangers were called to Orchid Beach on the heritage-listed island, about 200 kilometres north of Brisbane, about 9.20am on Thursday.

The Department of Environment said “two wongaris [dingoes] were involved” and the victim was receiving first aid.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the primary school-aged child had four puncture wounds from a dingo bite.
Tourists are warned not to feed or approach dingoes on Fraser Island, also known as K’gari.
There were at least three dingo attacks in 2019, including when a dingo dragged a 14-month-old boy by the head from his family’s caravan in April.
The teenager, who had cuts on his head, was rescued by his father who chased off a number of dingoes.
