Kerala reports 6,356 new COVID cases, 6,380 recoveries: Health Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 3 (UNI) Kerala on Wednesday reported 6,356 new cases of COVID-19, while 6,380 patients also recovered from the disease, Health Minister KK Shailaja said.
"In the last 24 hours, one person who had returned from the UK tested positive for COVID taking the total to 78 now and their samples have been sent to NIV, Pune for further testing. So far, 10 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus," the minister said in a press release here this evening.
Meanwhile, 20 COVID deaths were confirmed on Wednesday, taking the death toll in the state to 3,796.
She said 59,635 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 10.66 %. Till now, a total of 97,72,067 samples have been sent for testing.
On Wednesday, 30 mre places were declared as hotspots, even as 11 areas were excluded. There are 376 hotspots in Kerala currently.

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 3 (UNI) The Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Technopark and Tata Consultancy Services to set up a new centre of TCS in Technocity at Pallipuram, on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram, at an investment of Rs 1,200-1,500 crores.
