LUCKNOW: Following a sharp decline in the number of patients with coronavirus infection and to bring about normalcy in general patient care services, the Uttar Pradesh government has denotified over 80% Covid-19 hospitals across 75 districts.
With this, the beds reserved to quarantine and treat Covid-19 cases have come down from over 1.75 lakh to 17,235 across 82 facilities in 75 districts.

The order also said that as a result of the Covid-19 vaccination programme, the facility for active quarantine at these hospitals will also end from March 15, 2021.
Issuing an order to district magistrates and chief medical officers, additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad, said: “Except for hospitals mentioned in the list, all other hospitals turned into Covid-19 hospitals stand de-notified.”
It, however, stated that the 'denotified hospitals' will have to gear up and prepare themselves for Covid-19 management at a five-day notice.
Out of 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh, only four -- Aligarh, Gautam Budh Nagar, Lucknow, and Meerut -- have more than one Covid hospitals now.
General patient care services and teaching-training routine at the denotified hospitals can resume after proper sanitisation activity, says the order.
All level-1 covid-19 facilities have been done away with. Of the total 17,235 beds retained, 6,325 beds are at 15 level-3 facilities while remaining are at level-2 hospitals. In terms of treatment, 7,023 of these have oxygen facility while 1342 have ventilator across both the levels. The decision on Covid-19 facilities in private hospitals has been left to the district units.
