New Delhi, Feb 3 (UNI) More than 93,000 cybercrimes related to financial fraud, sexual exploitation and spreading of hate were registered in the country between 2017 and 2019, the Centre told Parliament on Wednesday.

Replying to a written question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State (MoS) for Home G Kishan Reddy said with the enhanced use of internet, the number of cybercrimes has also increased and as per the data of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the Minister said 21,796 cybercrimes were registered in 2017, 27,248 in 2018 and 44,546 in 2019.
''The motives behind cyber crimes in the country include personal revenge, fraud, sexual exploitation, inciting hate, spreading piracy and stealing information,'' he added.
Meanwhile, replying to another question, other junior Minister in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Nityanand Rai said that illegal Rohingya immigrants were staying in 12 states and Union Territories (UTs), including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
Mr Rai said that since illegal immigrants entered without valid travel documents in a clandestine manner, there was no accurate data regarding the number of such migrants living in the country.
The Minister said the detection and deportation of illegal migrants, including the Rohingya from Myanmar, after due process of nationality verification, was a continuous process.
