Ian Somerhalder Talks Marriage with Nikki Reed, Shares the Key to Their Successful Relationship

Ian Somerhalder is giving some insight into his relationship with wife Nikki Reed and how they’ve successfully maintained their marriage in the spotlight.

The 42-year-old The Vampire Diaries actor opened up during an interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy.

“What do you think is the key to keeping your relationship good?” Andy asked.

Ian replied, “Communication, taking time for yourself, for yourselves together… She’s the first one that says, ‘go, go on a bike ride, go socially distance walk with your buddies, go have a bourbon at the bar,’ you know, like just go.”

Andy asked what they fight about and Ian said, “We don’t really fight. I just basically.”

He then asked what they bicker about. Ian replied, “Well, I’m a tornado. I literally live, and I’ve learned this now as a parent. Cause I, you know, being a parent forces you to reckon with all of the things that, who you are really comes out, not just in a marriage, but when you become a parent and I am a tornado.”

Andy also asked Ian if he is a “generous lover.”

Ian said, “Of course, generosity and compassion and giving, you know, it’s all about sharing equal, it’s about sharing.”

There are rumors that The Vampire Diaries could return for a ninth season. Ian said, “I have not heard anything about a season nine. I mean, what would, you know, like what would happen Stefan and Damon are, you know, Damon has like gray hair and they’re, they have canes like, ‘Oh, I got, gotta feed the baby.’ You know what I mean? No, listen, it ran it, it ran a great course. And now it’s still living. That’s what’s so amazing. It’s still living.”
