India fastest country to reach 4 million COVID vaccination mark in 18 days

New Delhi, Feb 3 (UNI) India has emerged as the fastest country in the world to reach the four million COVID-19 vaccination mark, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

In the last 24 hours, 1,88,762 more healthcare workers were vaccinated across 3,845 sessions. Total health workers have been inoculated 41,38,918 in 76,576 sessions.

According to the Ministry, till Monday, India was among the top five countries in terms of number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered to people.

Meanwhile, 11,039 new confirmed cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, the lowest in seven months.

Besides, 110 people succumbed to the deadly virus, taking the death toll to 1,54,596.

Total 14,225 new recoveries were registered in the same period, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,04,62,631. The National Recovery rate (97.08 pc) continues to be one of the highest globally, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

The active cases of the infection currently stand at 1,60,057. The Active Caseload of the country has fallen below 1.5 per cent (1.49 pc presently) of the total cases.

According to the ministry, 31 States and UTs have less than 5,000 active cases. Total 14 States/UTs have not reported any deaths in the last 24 hours, while 31 States and UTs have less than 5,000 active cases.
