Robbery accused attempts suicide

Yavatmal: One of the accused in the daring robbery case involving Rs 21 lakh attempted to commit suicide by slitting his throat with a blade in the toilet of the police headquarters on Monday.
Accused Vishal Ramchandra Manekar (24), a resident of Jaripatka (Nagpur), was rushed to the government hospital where a surgery was performed. Doctors said his condition is stable and added that he’s out of danger.
The robbery had taken place in a lonely spot near Sawargaon village, between Kalamb and Ralegaon, a few days ago. The victim, a businessman from Ralegaon, had lodged a complaint at Kalamb police station where a case was registered against unknown robbers.
The investigation was later handed over to the LCB who took four suspects into custody. The suspects are from Nagpur, Mohada (Yavatmal) and Hinganghat (Wardha).
Police suspect that the suicide attempt was fake.
The LCB Chief Pradeep Siraskar said that the accused was taken to the common toilet in the police headquarters where he happened to notice a razor blade and with it, he slit his throat. The police then rushed Manekar to GMC Yavatmal where he underwent surgery. Doctors said his condition is stable and added that he is out of danger.
The cops have begun further investigation to trace the robbed money.
