Odisha to discontinue Career and Counselling Cells in Govt colleges

BHUBANESWAR: The higher education department on Wednesday directed principals of government degree colleges in the state for discontinuation of 'Career and Counselling Cells' in all government colleges in the state.
These cells were established in 2018. "Now after review, the government has been pleased to discontinue the functioning of career and counselling cells as it has failed in attaining its objectives," said the higher education department letter.
The department has requested the colleges to refund the unspent amount lying with the institution under the head of 'Career and Counseling' along with the interest accrued on the unspent amount till date. It has told the colleges to refund the amount by February 28.
Odisha has 52 government colleges.
