Meghalaya reports 6 new COVID-19 cases, 10 recoveries

Shillong, Feb 3 (UNI) Meghalay reported 6 new COVID-19 cases and 10 more recoveries on Wednesday.

Director Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the fresh COVID-19 cases were all detected in the East Khasi Hills district.

With 43 active cases and 121 deaths due to the viral disease, the East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong is the most affected district in the state.

Of the new recoveries, Dr War said that eight people recovered in East Khasi Hills district and one each in South West Garo Hills district and Ri-Bhoi district.

On the other hand, of the 3,40,228 persons tested for COVID-19 till Wednesday afternoon, 3,26,454 tested negative for the virus, even as seven persons were in institutional quarantine and 45 persons in home isolation across the state, which has seven containment zones where positive cases have been detected.

Since the onset of the pandemic, 88,745 persons from outside have returned to the state, which has so far registered 13,774 confirmed COVID-19 cases, that includes 147 deaths with 1.06 per cent case fatality rate, 52 active cases and 13,575 cases of recovery from the viral disease as on date.
