Srinagar, Feb 3 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir has achieved 100 per cent target by vaccinating 19,40,767 children up to five years of age during the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme (IPPI) 2021, an official spokesperson said, here on Wednesday.
He said the IPPI was inaugurated by Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department at Government Hospital Sarwal Jammu on January 31, 2021.
"On the first day, 16,67,763 (87 per cent) children were covered in both activity while as 18,59,326 (97 per cent) children were covered on the second day House to House activity," he said.
"On the third and final day, a total of 19,40,767 children were covered with 100 per cent achievement in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir," he added.
Giving details, he said in Kashmir Division, 10,49,874 Children were administered Polio vaccine, including in far-flung and snow bound areas like Gurez, Tulail Machil, Tangdar, Keran, Karna, etc. "Vaccines were made available in such hard to reach areas in advance," he said.
Similarly, he said at Jammu Division, 8,90,893 Children were covered with 100 per cent achievement, including in far-flung areas like Paddar, Dachin, Madwah, Gol.
“A total number of 42836 vaccinators were deployed in 10709 booths across UT of Jammu & Kashmir for Successful conduct of Pulse Polio Campaign 2021," he added.
