CHENNAI: Two men aged 23 and 21 drowned in a quarry pond during a photoshoot at Tirusulam on Monday evening.
The deceased -- Akash, 23, a resident of Pallipattu, and Dinesh Kumar, 21, of Avadi along with their friends visited the quarry in Trisulam to click a few pictures. Akash had already visited the place a day before the incident took place.
Since he was impressed with the scenery, he brought two other friends along with him for a photoshoot.
Aakash and Dinesh decided to take pictures inside the water. Aakash, who entered the pond first, got stuck due to the slush and Dinesh tried to rescue him. The two slipped and fell into the deeper end of the pond and drowned.
Two other friends, who were a few meters away from the scene, rushed to rescue Aakash and Dinesh, but failed to do so. They left the spot and informed Pallavaram police station and fire and rescue service personnel about the incident.
The rescue operations continued till Tuesday morning and a five-member team searched for the body from 9.30 am.
Dinesh’s body was fished out at 10.30 am and Aakash's body at 12 pm.
The bodies were sent for a post mortem to Chrompet government hospital.
The two dead men completed their visual communication course at a private college in the city and conducted photoshoots for wedding and other functions, a police said.
A case was registered and further investigation was on.
