Hyderabad: Man arrested for stealing temple idols to help wife conceive

Hyderabad: A man, who stole idols of deities from temples to attract good omen for his wife to conceive, was arrested by the Kulsumpura police here on Tuesday. His wife, who assisted him in the thefts, is absconding.

Police recovered one brass coated wall hanging of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and a brass coated metal plate of Naga Devatha from him. The couple were identified as S.Siddesh alias Siddu, a labourer and his wife S.Sujatha, from Deen Dayal Nagar in Film Nagar in Banjara Hills

Police said the childless couple were advised by a friend to perform puja to idols of Naga Devatha, Katta Maisamma and Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy at home for driving out evil forces and to bear a child soon.

Following this, Siddu stole brass coated wall hangings of deities from temples in Langar Houz and Kulsumpura in the last two months.
