Expect snow on Wednesday — and maybe again on Friday

Daytime temperatures will fall from the 50s to the 30s.

(Courtesy of the National Weather Service) A storm system is expected to bring light to moderate snow accumulations Wednesday and Thursday, mainly across north and central Utah.

After a bit more almost spring-like weather in northern Utah, winter will be making a comeback.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in the Salt Lake City area will reach about 50 degrees on Tuesday, and there’s a 20% chance of rain on Tuesday night with a low of 34. But after a high near 40 on Wednesday morning, temperatures will drop to about 32 by 1 p.m. as a storm blows in.
There’s a 90% chance of snow on Wednesday afternoon, with accumulations of 1-3 inches possible. That chance of precipitation falls to 40% on Wednesday evening, with additional accumulations of less than half an inch possible.
According to the NWS, the chance of snow extends up and down the Wasatch Front — 1-2 inches in Logan and Brigham City; 2-4 inches in Ogden; 1 inch in Provo; and 1-2 inches in Nephi. There’s a 70% chance of rain in Cedar City on Wednesday, which could turn to snow — less than half a inch — overnight.

Snow accumulations of 6-12 inches in the mountains are expected.
The snow will end — temporarily — but the winter temperatures will remain. The Salt Lake City area can expect a high of just 31 on Thursday,
And on Friday, there’s a 40% chance of more snow — another 1-3 inches possible — with a high near 34. The forecast for Saturday and Sunday calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid- to upper 30s. Overnight lows through the end of the week are in the mid-20s.
In St. George, temperatures will rise into the low 60s on Tuesday and the high 50s on Wednesday, with a 20-30% chance of rain. Sunny skies return Thursday, with temperatures in the low to mid-50s through Sunday.
