Man allegedly runs over step-father in domestic violence incident
A man allegedly attempted to murder his elderly step-father by running him down with a car outside their family home in north-west Sydney on the weekend.
Police have been told the man, 30, allegedly assaulted his step-father, 70, at the home they share on The Parade in Telopea about 3.40pm on Sunday.
He then dragged his step-father onto a nature strip outside the property and kicked him in the face, police were told.
The younger man then briefly left the scene in a car, before he returned and allegedly drove at his step-father with the vehicle.
The elderly man was thrown three to four metres, knocked unconscious and suffered multiple injuries. He is being treated for his injuries in hospital.
The step-son left the scene on foot and then forced his way into a home on Honiton Avenue, Carlingford, about 1.3 kilometres away.
Police allege he smashed furniture and a window at the property, causing more than $50,000 in damage.
Officers from the Cumberland local area command attended the Carlingford home shortly after. Police allege one officer was assaulted during the man’s arrest.
Police have charged the man with attempted murder, breaking and entering to commit malicious damage, and assaulting police.
He was refused bail and is due to appear before Central Local Court on Tuesday.
