NOIDA: Commuters will soon be able to cover the distance between Greater Noida’s Pari Chowk and Noida’s Sector 51 metro stations in 28 minutes, with the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) deciding to take 10 stations off the list of stops.
The current travel time between Sector 51 and Pari Chowk is 37 minutes. Once the “fast” trains start plying, the distance can be covered in 28 minutes and 30 seconds during peak hours, officials said.
Once the new schedule is out, trains will not halt at Sector 50, 101, 81, 83, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147 and 148 stations during the peak hours on weekdays, officials said. The date from when the new schedule would be followed, however, is yet to be announced.
Starting from Sector 51, the Aqua Line has 21 stations. Once the “fast trains start operating, during peak hours on weekdays, they will stop at only 11 of those.
According to NMRC officials, the peak hours are from 8 am to 11 am, Monday to Friday.
“Commuters will be informed in advance through proper signage and also during the journey so that they are not inconvenienced. Timings of normal and fast trains will be displayed and announcements will be made for the commuters,” said Ritu Maheshwari, the managing director, NMRC.
The 10 stations that have been taken off the halt list usually see less passengers, according to NMRC officials.
It takes a little over 45 minutes to travel between Noida’s Sector 51 station and Greater Noida’s Depot station. Soon, it will be shortened by about 10 minutes and commuters will need a little over 36 minutes to cover the distance.
The “fast” trains will operate every 7 minutes and 30 seconds during peak hours from Monday to Friday. For the rest of the day, the frequency will be 10 minutes.
On Saturdays and Sundays, the trains will ply every 15 minutes.
