Mumbai, Feb 2 (UNI) The impact of Union Budget was seen on the equity market for another day as the BSE Sensex on Tuesday surged by 1197.11 pts to end strong at 49,797.72, historic high as buying was witnessed across the board amid strong global cues.

The Nifty too gained by 366.65 pts to 14,647.85.

The Sensex opened higher by 593 pts to 49,193.26. It advanced by 1554 pts to 50,154.48, days high before closing at 49,797.72 from its previous close.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 50,154.48 and 49,193.26 pts, respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 14,731.70 and 14,469.15 pts, respectively.

The indices that boosted the market were Industries by 4.23 pc, followed by Capital Goods, Auto and Materials stocks.

In scrips, SBI, Ultracemco, HDFC Bank, L& T and Bharti Airtel went up.

The Mid Cap soared by 2.26 pc and Small Cap by 1.59 pc.

In 30 scrips, 27 advanced while 3 declined.
