
Silento, best known for his song Watch Me (Whip Nae Nae), has been charged with the murder of his cousin.
The rapper, whose real name is Richard 'Ricky' Lamar Hawk, was taken into custody on Monday, according to the DeKalb County Police Department.
People reports he is being held at DeKalb County Jail on one count of felony murder after the shooting of Frederick Rooks.
According to TMZ police say they found Frederick's dead body on a Panthersville, Georgia street on 21 January with eight bullet casings on the scene. They launched an investigation into the shooting, and have since arrested the 23-year-old rapper. Police say they obtained camera footage from homes in the area capturing at least one gunshot, after which several vehicles fled the scene.
Silento's arrest comes just months after he was charged with assault after allegedly attacking strangers with an axe.
