Heavy rain is expected in a number of provinces including Gauteng, Limpopo, and KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday. The South African Weather Service has warned of the possibility of damage due to heavy rainfall. 

Impact-based warnings

- Yellow (Level 4) warning: Heavy rainfall is expected over the western Bushveld of Limpopo, Gauteng, central and eastern parts of the North West, north-eastern parts of the Free State, south-western Highveld of Mpumalanga, as well as the western and north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal leading to flooding of roads and settlements (formal and informal), possible damage to roads and bridges.

Fire danger warnings Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Khai-Ma and Hantam municipalities and western parts of Pixlley Ka Seme municipality in the Northern Cape, as well as the eastern parts of the West Coast district, and extreme northern parts.

Gauteng will be cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.

Mpumalanga can expect morning fog patches and drizzle along the escarpment, where it will be cold, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.

Conditions in the North West will be cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers in the east, but scattered in the west.

In the Free State, it will be cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the north-east.

The Northern Cape will be cloudy to partly cloudy with morning fog over the north-western parts where it will be cool, otherwise fine and warm to hot. It will become partly cloudy in the east and south-east with isolated afternoon to evening showers and thundershowers.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-easterly becoming fresh by mid-morning.

In the Western Cape, it will be cloudy to partly cloudy with isolated rain showers in the interior and southern parts in the morning, otherwise fine and cool to warm, but hot over the northern parts of the west coast, remaining cloudy over the eastern parts.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly reaching strong between Cape Agulhas and Langebaan in the morning, spreading to the north by the afternoon, becoming moderate to fresh easterly along the south coast by the evening.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be cloudy over the interior in the early morning, otherwise fine and warm, but hot in places.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

The eastern half of the Eastern Cape will be partly cloudy and warm in the north, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated light rain in the morning. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in places in the north.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly, reaching near gale force winds in the south from the afternoon.

In KwaZulu-Natal, morning fog is expected over the interior, otherwise cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the extreme south.

The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly, but fresh to strong in the north, becoming moderate north-easterly from the south towards afternoon spreading northwards.
