Time and time again, various circumstances in life have proven that no matter what happens women are always at a disadvantage. More often than not, what gets in our way are the mammoth-sized egos that men lug around. In the last few months itself, we have heard of numerous incidents where women have been raped or murdered because they refused a man’s sexual advancements. How dare they, right? However, the incident we are discussing today is far more disturbing. In Bihar, a man threw a three-year-old baby girl into the fire because her mother protested against his sexual harassment. When it comes to women’s safety, we are going in a downward spiral.
This incident occurred in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district on Sunday. A woman was sitting by a bonfire outside her house when this man tried to sexually harass her. When she protested against his unwarranted advances, he threw her three-month-old baby girl into the fire. If I didn’t know any better, I would say she bruised his ego and left him butt hurt. And obviously, the only thing that would make it better for him was to harm a practically newborn baby. What other solution is there?

According to the police, the baby suffered severe burn injuries in her legs and she is being treated at the Sadar Hospital in Bihar. They also said that she was sitting outside her house by a bonfire. The man in question sat beside her and began sexually harassing her. When she refused and protested he snatched the baby that was lying her lap and threw her into the fire. This caused severe burns to the baby.
An FIR has been lodged and the investigation is underway. However, the woman’s husband claimed that the police did not lodge a complaint at first. He then had to approach the Senior Superintendent of Police Jayant Kant. He has demanded an immediate arrest of the accused.
This is really disturbing.
