Noida: Phase 2 of vaccine drive from February 5 to cover cops, corporations

The second phase of the vaccination drive will start from February 15 in GB Nagar
NOIDA: The second phase of Covid vaccination drive will begin from February 5 in GB Nagar. It will include police personnel, panchayati raj/nagar nigam staff, revenue department officials and para military forces. The first phase of the drive will end on the same day.

Officials said that 10% of the frontline workers will be inoculated on February 5 and 30% each will get vaccinated on February 11, 12 and 18. A mop-up round is also slated for February 22. Meanwhile, a mop-up round of the remaining healthcare workers (HCWs) from the district will be conducted on February 15, which is also the date for the second dose of Covid vaccine for HCWs who were inoculated on January 16.
Dr Neeraj Tyagi, district immunisation officer (DIO) and in-charge of Covid vaccination in GB Nagar, said, “The second phase of the vaccination drive will start from February 5. In the second phase, staff from the revenue department, police, nagar nigam, etc will get inoculated. So far, we have registered 15,193 frontline workers for the second phase.”
A directive for the second phase of the vaccination drive was issued by additional chief secretary Amit Mohan Prasad on Saturday. According to the directive, the mop-up round for the second phase will take place on February 22 and the remaining HCWs from the first phase will be vaccinated on February 15.
Of the total 24,453 HCWs registered from the district, 9,146 have been vaccinated so far. Those yet to be vaccinated can get the shot on February 4 and 5.
