3 fraudsters arrested for Rs2.22cr scam

Nagpur: Economic offences wing (EoW) of the crime branch on Saturday arrested three alleged fraudsters, including Puroshattam Bele, president of Vishwakarma Gramin Baigar Sheti Cooperative Limited, Kharbi, at Wathoda, for their role in duping investors to the tune of Rs2.22 crore.
It’s learnt that Bele, along with vice-president of the cooperative Naresh Dandekar, had lured more than 1,100 members to deposit in their schemes, which were to help them procure various loans in future. Dandekar was also arrested. The third person to be nabbed in the case was Vasudev Hirudkar.
Police said Bele, Dandekar and their co-accused embezzled the deposits of the cooperative society on the pretext of availing various loans and floating different schemes.
