Sensex climbs over 800 pts, Nifty up 1.5% as FM rolls out Budget 2021; Bank stocks outperform

In the sectoral indices list, pharma and IT stocks were the only ones in the red.

As the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman is announcing the Union Budget 2021, the markets have picked up, gaining by remarkable numbers.

At around 11:50 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading higher by 869.80 pts at 47,155.57. 

The NSE index, Nifty was up by 1.57% and trading at 13,848.85 pts.

In the sectoral indices list, pharma and IT stocks were the only ones in the red. 

Bank stocks were trading higher by 2.88% while PSU bank was up 1.49%.

The other heavyweight, Nifty FMCG gained by 0.30%, while Private Bank stocks were in the spotlight rising by 3.08%.

IndusInd Bank rose by a whopping 9.59% while ICICI Bank gained 6.10%, HDFC rose 4.07% and Hindalco and L&T gained over 3.2% each, making it to the list of top gainers.

UPL was the top loser, down by 7.59%, while Dr Reddys was down 3.37%. Wipro shed 1.90% and Tech Mahindra lost over 1.8% share price. TCS too made it to the list of top losers shedding 1.21%.
