Car Sales January 2021: Mahindra Registered Sales Growth Of 4 Per Cent

Mahindra & Mahindra has recorded a growth of 4 per cent in its passenger vehicle sales in January at 20,634 units as compared to 19,797 units sold in the same month last year. Sales of the company's utility vehicles went up by 5 per cent at 20,498 units as compared to 19,455 units sold in the same month last year. However, sales of passenger cars went down by 60 per cent at 136 units as compared to 342 units sold in the same month last year.

Mahindra has recorded a growth of 5 per cent in the UV segment.

Commenting on the sales performance, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division- Mahindra & Mahindra said, "At Mahindra, we have witnessed a growth of 5 per cent in Utility Vehicles in the month of January. We have also seen strong bookings fueled by continued demand. Supply shortage of micro-processor semiconductors continues to be a serious challenge for the Auto Industry. Going forward we are working with our supplier partners to gear up our supply chain and meet the market demand."

The company has recorded a decline in YTD sales.

Speaking about the company's overall sales till date, Mahindra recorded a decline of 28 per cent in overall PV sales selling 125,125 units in the April - January period as compared to 172,656 units sold in the same period last year. The company witnessed a dip of 25 per cent in UV sales at 123,507 units in the same period when compared to 165,619 units it sold a year ago. The passenger car segment recorded a decline of 77 per cent at 1618 units against 7037 units sold in the same period last year.
