Six killed, 3 injured as Omni van rams into stationary TNSTC bus in TN

Krishnagiri, Feb 1 (UNI) Six persons were killed and three others injured, when an Omni van in which they were travelling rammed into the rear side of a stationary Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus at Kaveripattinam in this district, early on Monday.

Police said the occupants of the ill-fated Omni van, hailed from Bhavani in Erode district were proceeding to Bengaluru on an excursion, when it rammed into the TNSTC bus parked along the highway.

The bus was also going to Bengaluru from Salem and it was stopped for a tea-break.

Five of the eight persons in the van were killed, while one passenger from the bus, who had alighted to attend nature's call, was killed in the accident.

The Omni van was completely mangled due to the impact of the collision.

The injured were admitted to Krishnagiri government headquarters hospital.

Further investigation is underway.
