NOIDA: A 25-year-old person died while his friend received serious injuries after a car they were travelling in collided with a divider and overturned near Sai temple in Noida’s Sector 52 when they were heading towards Delhi on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Aditya Vidhoori and the injured, Manoj Kumar(26), both belonging to Delhi.
Police suspect the vehicle to be speeding which led to the accident. Prabhat Dixit, the SHO of Sector 24 police station said the two persons had visited Noida to meet their friend for some work. “Around 8.30pm, they were returning to Delhi from Sector 76 side in a Maruti Swift Dzire. When they reached near Sai Temple, the speeding car hit the divider and overturned. Aditya was driving the car,” he said.
Police received the information about the accident through a passerby and soon a team reached the spot. “It took over 15 minutes to take out both the victims from the car since the vehicle had overturned. Police rushed them to a government hospital in Sector 30 where Aditya was declared dead on arrival while Manoj was admitted in the hospital. He has now been discharged,” said the SHO.
The accident had also halted the traffic for some time. Later, a police team brought a crane and removed the vehicle from the spot.
“The body was sent for autopsy whose report is awaited. We have informed the deceased’s family. Police have not received any complaint regarding the case,” he added.
