So far, trends are out for about 3034 of 3035 wards. The BJP is leading in 1140 wards and the Congress 1197. Independents are leading in 634 wards. Hanuman Beniwal’s RLP is leading in 13 while the NCP is ahead in 46 wards.
Elections were held for 80 municipalities, 9 municipal councils and one municipal corporation on Thursday. For these seats, about 10,000 candidates were in fray. The election commission had informed that 76.52 per cent voter turnout was recorded and about 22.84 lakh voters exercised their franchise in local body polls.
The commission has made elaborate security arrangements and a tight vigil is being maintained at the strong rooms where EVMs have been kept. The districts where voting was held included Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jhalawar, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, Churu, Dungarpur, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Pali, Ajmer, Banswara, Bikaner, Bhilwara, Bundi, Rajsamand, Sikar, Tonk and Udaipur.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today launched Ayushman Bharat Mahatma Gandhi Rajasthan Swasthya Bima Yojna under which nearly 1.10 crore families in the state will get a health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh. He said that to include a maximum number of people under the scheme, the state government clubbed the figures of beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act and the Socio-Economic Caste Census. The chief minister appealed to the Centre to expand the coverage under the Ayushman Bharat scheme as well by clubbing the figures. He said nearly 1.10 crore families of the state will be covered under the scheme for which the state will provide an outlay of Rs 1,400 crore and the Centre Rs 400 crore. Gehlot said a mechanism has been put in place to check any irregularities in its implementation, taking into considering complaints regarding an earlier scheme brought in by the erstwhile BJP government. BJP appoints over 90 members to its Rajasthan Working Committee: The BJP's Rajasthan unit president Satish Poonia yesterday announced the appointment of 93 members and 50 special invitees to the party's state working committee. BJP national office bearers, state core committee members, state office bearers and all district presidents will be permanent invitees of the State Working Committee.

Rajasthan Local body Election Results 2021 Live: After performing well in panchayat and zila parishads, the BJP claimed that farmers had given their "mandate" for the farm reforms enacted by central government. BJP president J P Nadda said the saffron party's win in Rajasthan symbolised the trust the poor, farmers and labourers have in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, while senior party leader and Union minister Prakash Javadekar stressed that people, especially farmers, had given it a "decisive" victory.
In a tweet, Nadda expressed his thanks to women, farmers and other rural voters in the Congress-ruled state for putting "faith" in the BJP.
Noting that the polls were held primarily in rural Rajasthan which has a high concentration of farmers, Javadekar said that the BJP had won 353 of 636 zila parishads and 1990 of 4371 panchayat samitis, leaving the Congress behind and described the party's performance as phenomenal.

Rajasthan Municipal Election LIVE: There are a total of 30.28 lakh registered voters in these wards of which 15.47 lakh are men, 14.80 lakh are women and 56 in the other category. However, a total of 22.84 lakh exercised their franchise, which worked out at 76 per cent voter turnout. A total of 5,253 polling stations were set up in 3,035 wards under 90 bodies.
Rajasthan Election 2021: The state election commission will be holding elections for the post of chairperson on February 7. The notification for the same will be issued on February 1. Candidates will be able to submit nomination papers till February 3. Polling for chairperson posts will be held from 7 am to 2 pm. The commission has informed that counting of votes will start immediately after the end of the polling. The election for the vice-chairperson will be held on February 8.
In December 2020, Congress had won 33 of 45 urban local bodies chairperson posts. Ten posts of chairperson went to the BJP while independent candidates registered victory in two local bodies. In the Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad elections held in December, the BJP went ahead of Congress by winning 1,833 seats. The ruling Congress had bagged 1713 seats.
