1.54 lakh children to be administered polio drops in Madurai

MADURAI: As many as 1.54 lakh children below 5 years will be given polio drops in Madurai city on Sunday.
Madurai corporation commissioner S Visakan inaugurated the polio drive at Aruldosspuram Urban Primary Health Centre on Sunday morning.
Out of a total population of 17 lakh in the city, there are 1,54,238 children below five years. There are 245 migrant children.
The polio drops drive is set up in 462 places in Madurai, including 417 regular booths, 2 mobile booths and 43 transit booths.
A total of 1848 people are involved in the drive with 300 corporation health employees, 496 volunteers from NGOs and women self-help groups, 626 government and private nurses and 426 anganwadi workers.
