Wolverhampton Wanderers skipper Conor Coady said the club were in a “bad place” in the Premier League but he was at a loss to explain why following a 1-0 defeat by Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The loss extended Wolves’ winless run to eight league games and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have now won only once in their last 11 matches after Eberechi Eze’s strike gave Palace all three points to leave the visitors in 14th place.
“We’re in a place we don’t want to be in at the minute. It’s tough, we’ve got to come through it,” Coady told BBC Sport. “We’re a team, we need to put it right as soon as possible because we’re in a really bad way.
“We’ve got beat and I don’t really know what to say, we’ll look at the game, we need to improve because we’re in a bad place… It’s tough, it’s hard to put your finger on it, it’s not just today, it’s been a tough season overall.”
Wolves were seventh in November when they lost their talismanic striker Raul Jimenez to a severe head injury and have since dropped 27 points.
Full back Nelson Semedo warned they would have to start looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone.
“We are only thinking about us but we have to pay attention to the table as we are only (nine) points above Fulham (in 18th),” Semedo said. “We have to try and take some points.”
