MGR-Jayalalithaa temple opened near Madurai

MADURAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam on Saturday inaugurated a temple constructed for late chief ministers MGR and J Jayalalithaa at T Kunnathur in Madurai district. Revenue minister R B Udhayakumar constructed the temple on behalf of Amma Peravai.
Addressing party cadre, Panneerselvam criticised DMK and its leader M K Stalin. He said some would disrespect gods all the time, but they would celebrate them (gods) during election time. “They recruited people from north India to search ways to win elections. Now they are holding vel in their hands as the don’t have no other way. But they cannot come to power,” he said.
He said Stalin was taking new incarnation every day, but people of Tamil Nadu were not ready to believe him. The welfare aids given by Jayalalithaa had reached everyone in the state, he added.
“The DMK party has been yearning for power for the past 10 years. If they come to power, they will only fill their coffers,” he said.
Palaniswami said MGR and Jayalalithaa had worked for the people tirelessly throughout their life. The service they had done for the people could not be forgotten. He thanked Udhayakumar for constructing a temple for them.
The CM listed out various welfare measures introduced by the two late chief ministers. "The only government which worked for the poor and marginalised people is the AIADMK government. We will ensure their rule in 2021. We have to win to make them proud," he said.
