Santokh Chaudhary distributes party symbol to Cong candidates for local body polls

Phillaur, Jan 30 (UNI) Accelerating the pace of campaign for the coming Local Bodies elections, Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary and Phillaur In-charge Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary on Saturday distributed party symbols to the Congress candidates at their residence here.

The party has fielded candidates on all 15 wards of Phillaur Municipal Council. These include Jyoti Bala Saroye, Yashpal Ginda, Sunita Saini, Shankar Kumar Sandhu, Raj Kumar Sandhu, Rajwinder Kaur Bharti, Parwinder Kaur, Vaibhav Sharma, Arun Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Surinder Kumar Kainth, Narinder Kumar Goyal, Parveen Kumari, Mohinder Pal and Saroj.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chaudhary expressed confidence of a landslide win and said that Punjab government has dedicated itself to all-round development of the city.
''Crores of rupees have been spent on various projects and the development has reached every house of every ward. I am confident that the voters would reward the hard work of our government and councillors,'' he said.
Wishing all the best to the candidates, Vikramjit Chaudhary said that Captain Amarinder Singh government has always worked for the people of Punjab and stood with farmers in their protests against the Centre.
He challenged Phillaur MLA Baldev Singh Khaira to contest the elections on party symbol on all 15 seats, if Shiromani Akali Dal was so confident of their popularity and prospects.

SAD: Centre file criminal cases against officers & goons who attacked farmer camp at Singhu

Addressing a press conference here, party senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia also demanded that since the Delhi Police and goons accompanying them had committed human rights violations, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh should also register appropriate cases against them and take follow up action. He said the SAD would submit a formal complaint in this regard to the Chief Minister.
