New Delhi, Jan 30 (UNI) Ahead of the presentation of Union Budget 2021-22 in Parliament on February 1, the Government convened an all-party meeting on Saturday, in which leaders of several Opposition parties, including Congress, attended and urged the Centre to resolve the farmers' issue as soon as possible.
In the meeting, Opposition parties urged the Government to talk to the farmers to end their agitation, which has been going on for more than two months and said that as long as the farmers are on roads, it will not be easy for any party to function smoothly in the Parliament session.
In the virtual meeting held here on Saturday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leaders of several parties, including Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, DMK's T R Baalu and Trinamool Congress leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay, raised issues related to farmers and urged the Government to urgently find a solution to the issues of farmers.
Leaders of Shiv Sena and Shiromani Akali Dal also demanded the government to accept the demand of farmers and withdraw all three laws related to agriculture.
In the meeting, JD (U) supported the laws related to agriculture, while BJD's Pinaki Misra demanded the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill during the Budget Session.
