Sonic the Hedgehog actress Tika Sumpter has revealed that the movie’s sequel will begin production in March. In an interview on Live With Kelly and Ryan, Sumpter also revealed that the filming will take place in Vancouver as well as Hawaii.
Sumpter shared that she will be reprising the role of Maddie from the first movie. Details regarding the plot of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 are kept under the wraps. The director of the first movie, Jeff Fowler, will be returning for the sequel. Pat Casey and Josh Miller have written the script for the sequel.
Even after receiving fan backlash that led to redesign of Sonic, the first movie turned out to be a major box office success. Sonic the Hedgehog made $100 million globally in its opening weekend. The movie had to quickly get a digital release as theaters shut down due to the pandemic.
