Microsoft invests in Swiss carbon dioxide storage firm Climeworks

Microsoft said it has become an investor in Swiss start-up Climeworks. Climeworks has developed a technology to capture carbon dioxide from the air and re-use it for products such as synthetic fuels, greenhouse agriculture and carbonated beverages, or store it underground in volcanic rock using a mineralization process. Microsoft will provide funding for Climeworks through its Climate Innovation fund to build a renewable carbon capture and mineralization plant in Iceland.
