MANIPAL: Kasturba Hospital Manipal received certification of appreciation from the state government and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna for its performance under the Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka (AB-AK) scheme.
Angara S, minister for ports, fisheries and inland transport handed over the certificate to Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent, Kasturba Hospital at the district level Republic Day function in Udupi.
The Government of Indian had also appreciated the hospital as one of the best performing private hospitals and had invited it to Delhi for the first-anniversary celebration of Ayushman Bharat in 2019.
Since being empanelled under the AB-AK scheme in 2018, Kasturba Hospital has treated 15,000 patients under this scheme and 13,000 were BPL patients. During the pandemic, the hospital treated 1043 Covid patients under AB-AK including more than 400 in ICU.
Other important categories of patients treated under the AB-AK scheme are 3000 cardiac patients; 555 heart surgeries; 1055 neuro-surgeries; 905 ortho surgeries; 140 paediatric heart surgeries; 415 neonatal patients; 535 paediatric patients; 900 cancer patients; 140 paediatric cancer patients, Dr Shetty stated in a communique on Friday.
