Stepping up his attack against the central government over the new farm laws, Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi said that most farmers have not understood the details of the farm laws and if they did there would be an agitation across the country and the country would be on fire.Speaking at a UDF convention at Kalpetta in Wayanad on Thursday, he termed the three new farm laws as the ‘latest deadly assault on the kisans’.

Stepping up his attack against the central government over the new farm laws, Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi said that most farmers have not understood the details of the farm laws and if they did there would be an agitation across the country and the country would be on fire.
Speaking at a UDF convention at Kalpetta in Wayanad on Thursday, he termed the three new farm laws as the ‘latest deadly assault on the kisans’.

Rahul said that the bills destroy the idea of the mandi and allows a handful of businesses to store as much of agricultural products as they want so that they will be able to control the prices of the commodities. He said that the basic idea was to handover the agriculture system of this country to three-four business people.
“Five-10 people are stealing every single farmer’s produce. They are stealing from every single worker in the farm, they are stealing from every single person who works in the mandi and stealing from every single truck driver who takes the wheat from the mandi. And the Prime Minister of India is organizing the robbery,” Rahul said.

Rahul also alleged that while the Narendra Modi government in the Centre was aggressively using the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) against opposition party-ruled governments, there was no such pressure on the LDF-led Kerala government.

“Against every single opposition government, the CBI and ED are used aggressively. There is no such thing happening in Kerala. There is so such pressure being put on the government of Kerala by Narendra Modi. The CBI and ED are very relaxed about the cases in Kerala,” he said.
Stating that the upcoming assembly election will be an election of ideologies, he said that the ideology of the UDF will be against the ideology of the LDF and the ideology of the RSS.

“Just do a simple thing. Take a newspaper and see if the BJP attacks the Congess more or does it attack the CPM more. Does the Prime Minister attack the chief minister of Kerala or does he attack the Congress leadership. I don’t have to go into the details, you can see what is going in here, you can see the dynamics,” he said.
He said that making a UDF government come to power in the state would ensure that Wayanad realizes its long pending demand of having a medical college.

“We have been asking the government first nicely and then pressurizing the government on the medical college. You can see that the government is going slow and not giving Wayanad a medical college. Having a UDF government in Kerala is a guarantee for the medical college,” he said.
Rahul concluded his two-day visit to the constituency and returned to Delhi in the evening.
