Tom Sturridge as Dream
Dream, who also goes by Morpheus and any number of other names, is one of the seven Endless. These immortal beings are among the most powerful in the DC Universe, and each presides over a different aspect of creation. Dream rules over The Dreaming, an ethereal realm formed from and sustained by the dreams of mortals. As the series begins, Dream returns to his realm after a long absence and begins the process of atoning for his many mistakes.
Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar
Lucifer is one of the main antagonists in the early Sandman storylines. This fallen angel is one of the few in existence with the power to challenge the Endless, though Dream comes to learn Lucifer has changed a great deal during his long absence.
Technically, Christie is playing a new take on the same character seen in Netflix's Lucifer series, where the role is played by Tom Ellis. The comics that inspired Lucifer are direct spinoffs of The Sandman.
Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian
The Corinthian is another early villain in The Sandman saga. A nightmare created by Dream himself, The Corinthian revels in his master's absence and embarks on a long killing spree in the mortal world. He's distinguished by a pair of extra mouths where his eyes should be.
Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne
Lucienne (who's known as Lucien in the comics) is a librarian in service to Dream. Lucienne presides over The Dreaming's vast library, which contains every book ever dreamed of, whether or not it was ever actually written in the waking world.
Charles Dance as Roderick Burgess
Roderick Burgess is the first villain in the Sandman saga. This early 20th Century occultist is obsessed with immortality, leading he and his followers to perform a complex conjuring spell aimed at summoning and trapping Death herself. Instead, they accidentally summon Dream.
Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain
The Cain seen in The Sandman is the actual Biblical figure, a being cursed for all eternity after committing the first murder in human history. Cain now dwells in the House of Mystery in The Dreaming, where a large part of his day is spent dreaming up new ways to murder his brother all over again.
Asim Chaudhry as Abel
Cain's brother Abel is also a permanent resident of The Dreaming, one who dwells inside the House of Secrets. A well-meaning but pitiful figure with a chronic stammer, Abel can't seem to accept the fact that Cain will never love him.
