Atmanirbhar policy will strengthen global supply chain: PM

New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday told an world audience that his government's policy to make India self-reliant is not inward-looking, but aimed at strengthening global supply chain.

'Our Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan is committed towards global good and global supply chain.

'India has the capacity, capability and reliability to strengthen the global supply chain,' Mr Modi said at the World Economic Forum's Davos Agenda Summit.

He said during the pandemic, Indian companies have been capable of tackling supply shock, as they maintained medical supply in the country and across the world.

The Prime Minister also pointed to the vibrant technology and startup culture, and growing internet infrastructure in India and said work is on data protection.

'We want invest in frontier technology such as AI, additive manufacturing and additive cyber-physical systems,' he said, attending the Davos summit virtually.

Mr Modi said on the economic front, the situation is going to change swiftly as his government has increased economic activity by investing more in infrastructure,

'We have a commitment to Ease of living, ease of doing business, and climate-sensitive development,' the Prime Minister told the audience, among which were many corporate honchos and policy makers.

The government has taken several steps to boost manufacturing. Corporate has been brought down and GST rates reduced. Through faceless assessment, tax structure has been simplified, he pointed out.

Mr Modi said several points have also been decriminalised in the Company Law. Labour laws have been reformed, he added.

The Prime Minister said to raise competitiveness, connectivity infrastructure is being strengthened.

The government is working tirelessly to provide an enabling environment, he added.
