FAU-G (Fearless and United Guards), the first person game after its launch on India's 72nd Republic Day, has quickly gained popularity amongst the gamers, who were eagerly waiting for the game, since its announcement in September last year.
The game, which was announced days after the ban of the PUBG Mobile in India, due to security threats, was being seen as the rival for the game, but since PUBG hasn't relaunched in India, the user base of PUBG, at least some of it is likely to shift towards FAUG, for the time being.
Since, it is similar to PUBG in many ways, a first person multiplayer shooting game, but the game modes, the locations, themes and the graphics of the two games are starcly different.
Those who have played and followed the PUBG game religiously, they are aware of the Battle Royale Game, which became the most popular mode of the game, but it had a lot of sub-variants. There were five arena modes in PUBG which included Domination, Arena Training, Team Deathmatch, Assault, and Gun Game. And the gamers used to fight it either alone on in groups of two or four.
While FAUG, has three modes ‘Tales From The Galwan Valley’, ‘Team Deathmatch’, and ‘Free For All'. However, only the Tales from Galwan Valley is available currently , that too with just a single player. Other two have 'Coming Soon' written on them.
While FAUG is set in Galwan Valley, the site of recent clashes between India and China along the LAC, PUBG had imaginary locations with hills, forests and urban areas as the backdrops. PUBG gave options to the users of selecting from five Maps different from each other. These are maps with imaginary names such as Erangel Map, Miramar Map, Sanhok Map, Vikendi Map, and Karakin Map.
The most starc different between the two games is the combat style. With an agreement in place of not using guns in the Galwan Valley combat mode, FAUG features hand-to-hand combat along with weapons such as axes and spikes. On the other hand, PUBG allowed the users to use different combat modes and various weapons to defend and attack, such as guns, bombs, knives and many others.
While PUBG Mobile, after GoI's response to an RTI, is available in India with Korean version, which received an update a few weeks ago. However, the users can't transfer their existing IDs to the Kr version, since it's an altogether different but a popular version, designed specifically for Korea and Japan.
FAUG's version 1.0 is available with just Galwan Valley mode currently, as other two are expected to roll out soon, as the popularity of the game grows on.
