Active Jaish militant arrested, arms recovered in north Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 28 (UNI) Security forces arrested an active militant of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, a police spokesman said Thursday evening.
He said based on credible information, regarding movement of militants from Sopore to Bandipora, a joint special checkpoint was established by Police along with security forces at Patushahi Bandipora.
During checking, one active militant identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan son of Fayaz Ahmad Khan resident of Panzigam Bandipora was arrested.
Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession. As per police records he was linked with JeM.
Preliminary enquiry reveals that he had joined militant ranks recently and was tasked to carry out subversive activities in Sopore and Bandipora towns.
He said on January 26 Khan had managed to escape from a cordon and search operation at Adipora area of Sopore while taking advantage of darkness.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Bandipora and further investigation has been initiated.
